Nampa Mayor's Teen Council Receives Teen Driver Safety Grant

Nampa Teen CouncilThe Nampa Mayor?s Teen Council has been awarded a $3,000 grant from State Farm Insurance for its Seatbelt Education program. The check was presented to the Teen Council during the Nampa City Council meeting on Monday, February 5, 2007.

The Nampa Mayor?s Teen Council is one of four Idaho high schools and organizations to win a ?Shift Into Safety? grant from the state?s largest auto insurer. The company this fall offered grants of $2000 to $5000 to craft campaigns to help change teens? thinking and behavior behind the wheel.

State Farm looked for campaigns that would motivate young drivers to think first and foremost about getting to their destinations safely and to change their behaviors accordingly. The Nampa Mayor?s Teen Council will use this grant money to expand its Seatbelt Education program.
